National mental health awareness campaigners and support agency Beyond Blue have hit the road on a nationwide tour, spreading the mental health message far and wide.

Covering more than 37,000kms to date, the National Roadshow team are pulling up in public parks, beachfront markets, schools, retirement villages, men’s sheds, community centres and other easily accessible local areas with the aim of reaching more people in more communities and helping encourage mental health awareness and support seeking.

The tour bus has pulled into Gold Coast City this week and with mental health being identified as a regional priority, information about depression and anxiety and how to recover and stay well are welcome and relevant for our community.

Beyond Blue, a national agency, have teamed up with Gold Coast Medicare Local to promote the local Gold Coast City mental health support services and help our community learn about mental health and wellbeing, including understanding and recognising signs and symptoms and accessing help.

Today, thanks to Gold Coast Medicare Local, Beyond Blue and their big blue bus are in Justin’s Park in Burleigh Heads for a community festival featuring BBQ brekky and lunch, information stalls, entertainment and speakers, with special guest Sunny Ray from the Gold Coast Suns, a jumping castle and airbrush tattooing.

Information stalls will showcase local health services, with Beyond Blue and Medicare Local staff on hand to help guide guests in the right direction.

Head on down to have a chat about depression and anxiety and access the free information provided.
